What did you do before your time at NESS?
I completed an apprenticeship as a domestic electrical fitter and then worked in that role for a few months.
Why did you decide to join NESS?
I wanted to develop my career, so I planned to undertake a traditional craftsman’s apprenticeship and then go on to qualify as a master craftsman. However, a job advert from NESS quickly caught my attention. And so, instead of the apprenticeship followed by the master craftsman’s qualification, I ended up working in the field service team whilst studying for my State-Certified Technician qualification through a part-time distance-learning course.
What does your daily work at NESS look like? What are your typical tasks?
The great thing is that there’s no such thing as a ‘normal’ working day. From commissioning to overseeing installation work and other service tasks, there’s a bit of everything.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Because of this wide-ranging remit, working days are very varied, and you constantly get the chance to familiarise yourself with new tasks and technical problems. It’s also great fun to work alongside colleagues on larger projects and successfully carry them out on-site at the client’s premises.
What has been your best experience at NESS so far?
It’s difficult to single out one particular experience here, as it’s the many little moments in particular that make our day-to-day work so special.
What has really stuck in my mind, however, is the very warm welcome I received at the company from our service manager.
What should new colleagues bring with them to fit in at NESS?
You should definitely have a certain passion for your field and be able to adapt flexibly to new situations.
How would you describe the working atmosphere at NESS?
Like a small, mad but very professional family.
