What did you do before worked at NESS?
First, I did my apprenticeship in warehouse management at a pharmaceutical company after passing my “Fachhochschulreife” at the Technical Grammar School.
Then I started looking for a position in an international firm, where I would get new challenges and be able to develop both personally and professionally and found that the vacancy at NESS had the perfect fit.
Why did you decide to work for NESS?
I already had a really good impression and was keen to work for Ness, when I was given a company tour during my interview. As soon as I saw the warehouse, I could immediately see that there were significant opportunities to develop my professional skills. Particularly as there weren`t any real daily monotonous routines and I would have the freedom to develop my own procedures. The job description and conditions also met my expectations and so I was delighted when NESS offered me the job.
After working for a short time in the warehouse, I moved to the service department, and later when Ness expanded, I became the Shipping and Export Manager.
What is your working day like at NESS? What are your daily tasks?
I am in charge of the shipping and export logistics. I need to make sure that everything is delivered on time. The goods range from small replacement parts to massive, very heavy heaters (up to 44 tonnes). A lot of these heaters need to be shipped to the other side of the world.
Each international customer requires an individual solution to ship these huge heaters to the various continents across the world. Our first priority is to deliver our goods to our customer`s location safely and on time. It is essential not only to have a good overview of the schedule but also of the expenditure.
Custom, export and import duty requirements must also be met. Here, there is a lot to consider and to prepare in order to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
However, what is of upmost importance is customer satisfaction. When the customer is happy then so am I!
In addition, I am responsible for the preparation, packing and packaging our outgoing goods. Here I have a super warehouse team. They package the small parts with extreme care, pack the delivery boxes, set up the loading equipment in the loading bays, and load the lorries and sea containers, in addition to checking and booking the incoming deliveries. I coordinate this great team with a view to ensuring that there is enough capacity to meet the delivery deadlines.
What do you like best about your job? What task do you enjoy the most?
I really like finding the solution for the more difficult deliveries. I particularly enjoy finding this solution with our logistic partners and then providing the customized delivery to our clients.
There are always new challenges, new projects and objectives which mean that there is a lot of variety every day.
I really value our team spirit. It is always fun to meet our targets together.
What has been your best moment at NESS?
There are so many good moments that there is not really „the one“ experience. It’s more the significant amount of little highlights that I always enjoy, such as exchanging ideas with colleagues or finding solutions together.
It is also always a pleasure to see when a well-planned transport has gone smoothly and the valuable goods have arrived at their destination undamaged and on time.
What qualities do new work colleagues at NESS need to fit into the work culture?
Above all, to have the ability to work in team and to be flexible and committed. Every day is different, so you need to capable of being able to do new and varied work every day.
How do you describe the atmosphere at NESS?
As a family-run company, everything is run on a personal and friendly basis at NESS. Unlike some large corporations, you are not just a number here. The flat hierarchy also contributes to the pleasant working atmosphere.
What makes NESS as an employer special to you?
Although NESS is globally active, it has maintained its “Schwäbisch” roots and is very down to earth. Everyone at NESS is hands-on, right from the development and planning of each contract to the production and of course the delivery. I find this great!
